The first game i've been to in a couple weeks, and just stepping out of the condo on 4th it already felt different, we weren't the only ones on the street, even clear over at Plum. An awesome story in the NY Times about people moving away from conspicuous consumption and gravitating towards experiences. I've been saying this for awhile but its nice to be reassured by the Times that its not just my imagination. Opening this months Wired Magazine and paging through I got super excited finding this story and the accompanying pictures which I instantly identified as Cincinnati. Wired calls this series of pictures, the Fontayne-Porter daguerreotypes, the most famous of that type ever taken, and in 1848, daguerreotypes where super high tech.

To celebrate their first year of operation for Cincinnati's hackerspace, Hive13 is throwing a party at their Camp Washington space that will include music, refreshments, and games. The party will start at 7pm on Saturday, July 24.
